My name is Dylan Mason. I'm a designer living in Calgary, Canada specializing in product design. I strive to leave things better (or at least more organized!) than I found them.
During the day, I’m the design director at YNAB. Our mission is to help people build good financial habits. After hours, I'm one-half of Ritchie & Mason, a partnership with my friend Steven Ritchie. We come up with app ideas and then choose to build a select few (1000 no’s for every yes—that whole thing).
In 2015, I worked at Payload bringing transparency and accountability to commercial transportation. Things moved fast during my time at Payload so I helped the team create an efficient design system for their web and mobile apps to help them prototype and build features quickly.
In 2014, I worked at AppColony where we split our time between developing internal ideas and working with clients to make theirs a reality. Some projects included improving the scheduling experience for shift workers, preventing distracted driving, and digitizing coaching materials for Hockey Canada.
In 2013, I graduated from the Alberta University of the Arts where I studied graphic design for four fantastic years (along with jewelry, printmaking, photography, and illustration). After graduation, I visited New York and attended the Summer Intensive in Interaction Design at the School of Visual Arts.
In 2012, I interned at Critical Mass and started my career by working with an incredibly talented team on the [redacted] account.
In my spare time I’m probably reading a book, running somewhere, or lifting weights.
I’m unavailable for freelance opportunities at this time.
